Ideal Boyfriend

When I was young, an ideal boyfriend for me was someone who has a lot of money. In Korea, this is the case for many young women: as long as the man is rich, he is a perfect candidate to be a boyfriend. However, as I grew older and got into relationships, I realized that money is not important when it comes to love. For me, a perfect man is someone who is faithful, courteous, and a multi- tasker.
Being faithful is the most important trait that a boyfriend should have. If my boy is loyal, I would not have to worry myself if he is cheating or not. As a student, I have too much worry about my studies, so I do not need a man to give me more stress. Especially nowadays when it is very easy for men to cheat on their girlfriends as if they are just changing clothes, having a faithful man beside me will give me peace of mind.
Another trait that an ideal man should have is courtesy. In the modern world, the word “gentleman” has become rare since people do not care much about formalities and manner anymore. If a man is courteous, he is also polite, well mannered, and thoughtful. These are qualities that men lack nowadays. For example, only a few men can be seen opening car doors for women or waiting for the lady to be seated before he does. I think that if my man is courteous, every other woman will be envious of me.
Last but not the least, an ideal boyfriend should be capable of multi- tasking. As I am in high school now, it should be most probable that my bf is in the same grade. High school is a very busy time for students. We have loads of home works, projects, and researches to think about. If my boyfriend does not know how to multi task, I am one hundred percent sure that he will not have the time for me; nonetheless, I do not want him to neglect his studies just to give me some attention. Hence, an ideal boyfriend for me is someone who knows how to manage doing many things at the same time.
In conclusion, I am the kind of girl that is easy to please. The qualities I look for in a man are very simple. I believe that as long as a man is faithful, courteous, and a multi tasker, he is perfect to be a boyfriend. However, do I wish that he exist? I do not need to—because my current boyfriend already has all these qualities I am looking for. For me, Peter, my boyfriend, is the ideal boyfriend anyone could have and wish for.

Social Discrimination

The talk is about how few women leaders we have was given by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer. Sandberg showed that in Fortune 500 companies, in the government, and even in the non-profit sector, which people thought is dominated by women, there is an obvious lack of women on the top of the ladder. She talked about solutions that women should do as individuals in order to solve the roof of the problem-women dropping out of the sector. She explained that so that the number of women leaders increase, they should be more confident, in control, and aggressive. In her words, women should “sit at the table, make the partner a real partner, and don’t leave before you leave.
Personally, I think Sandberg proved her point that there is a lack of women leaders in the society when she talked about the women’s room story. The story is about when she attended an executive meeting at a company, and realized that the man she was talking to didn’t know where the women’s room was. She even emphasized this by asking the person she’s talking to about whether he doesn’t know because he simply doesn’t or because he never had a woman pitch to him before. This example of hers totally illustrated how it is not usual to see a woman taking charge of her career.
I liked it when she said that for equality to completely occur, women should take initiation. In Korea, women do really underestimate themselves in the family; the financial responsibilities fall to the men’s shoulder, while women get most of the hard works. After hearing Sandberg’s message, my confidence grew a lot. Just recently, I never dreamed of one day operating a successful business since I believed this job is only for men. However, after listening to her talk, I feel that I can do anything I want to in my life Sheryl Sandberg opened my eyes to opportunities I have never even thought of before.
